During my service in the military, my unit was deployed to Kabul, Afghanistan for a little over a year. This became my home, and I was inspired by the different culture and textures it offered me. During my time overseas, my camera offered me more comfort than my weapon at times. With my camera I could escape the “war scenario” and be who I was, an artist, not just a soldier. I used this opportunity to distance myself from what was actually happening-from seeing what I had to see.
